"Anonymous Information" means information that cannot be traced back to you as a specific individual. We record standard web log information: cookies, referrer IDs, IP addresses and system information. None of this information identifies you personally -- it is anonymous - and will never be combined or linked to any Personal Information.
For each visitor to our Web site, our Web server automatically records only your IP address (and/or domain name), and the referrer ID (information from your web browser which shows us what URL you arrived from) and your system information (Operating System & Web browser used).
This information is only used for broad demographic statistics.
Personally identifiable information
"Personally identifiable information" is non-anonymous information such as your name, phone number, credit card information, address or email address -anything that could identify you personally.
Visitors to our Web sites are not required to provide personally identifiable information to use our site or services.
There are only a few cases in which we receive names, email addresses, or other information that identifies you personally. They are:
- You have to provide your email address in order to be able to post messages to our WindowsBBS.com support forum.
- Your name and email address and any additional information you volunteer while using our comment/feedback scripts, when purchasing our products, or when you contact us by email.
- Your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter or email announcement list(s) or participate in contests.
This information will not be shared, or resold, to any other company without your explicit consent. Included in each of our newsletters will be instructions on how to unsubscribe.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
In an effort to be compliant with COPPA, it is our policy to collect NO personally identifiable information from children. Therefore, all individuals are required to be 14 years and older to submit their email address and subscribe to the newsletters.
Usage of information
The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Web site, used to notify consumers about updates to our Web site, and solicit advertisers. E-mail addresses are not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.
If you receive an email newsletter or other communication from one of our divisions and do not wish to receive further notices from the same source, please use the unsubscribe links furnished in the communication. The unsubscribe is then handled automatically and your name is immediately removed from that mailing list. Since we have more than one newsletter, you would need to unsubscribe from each communication as provided in order to be removed from that specific mailing list.
If you supply us with your postal address on-line you will only receive the information for which you provided us your address.
We work with third parties serving ads to our Web sites. We have no control over the information collected by these third parties.
We will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on us or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of us and our Web site(s); and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of our users, our web sites, or the public.
